Why are the shipping costs so high?

The factors that influence shipping rates within Pic-Time are important to understand, especially when they differ from the rates offered directly by labs. This article will guide you through the most common scenarios that affect shipping costs, from configuration issues to international lab selections and differences in shipping options.

Multiple Labs Enabled/Using Another Lab

This is the most common reason for higher shipping costs, where shipping from multiple labs is combined and the client or photographer is charged shipping from both labs. Since each lab sets its own rates, one of the first things we recommend is to look into other lab options that might be able to provide cheaper shipping options to your client's locations. If you suspect you have multiple labs that are being shipped from, you can double-check within your Store Pricing.

1. From your Main Dashboard, select Settings.

2. In the Store Pricing tab, select the item you wish to review.

3. Check the Fulfillment lab. If you want to minimize the cost associated with shipping from multiple labs, ensure each item in your store is using the same lab.

International Lab Comparison

Shipping costs may differ when comparing an international lab with a local lab that Pic-Time isn't yet partnered with. While Pic-Time has an extensive network of lab partners, we're always looking to expand. If you'd like to see a specific lab added, please inform our Support Team and encourage the lab to partner with us. Some labs also offer special shipping discounts for large orders, which we aim to implement in the future.

Shipping Options

Shipping costs can vary based on the selected option, such as Rush versus Expedited or Economy shipping. In Pic-Time, Economy shipping includes tracking, while some labs outside of Pic-Time may offer cheaper, untracked options.

Offer a Discount

If you want to encourage your clients to place larger orders, consider offering them free shipping on all orders over a certain amount! However, keep in mind that you will then be charged the shipping costs. Make sure to account for the additional cost, so that your discount settings work with your store pricing and labs.
