When creating different types of discounts, photographers can use the marketing apps in the Sales & Automation tab of their Main Dashboard. Here, you can craft the ideal discount for your gallery, ensuring enhanced client satisfaction with each purchase. To learn how to get started on creating a Marketing app, read more about it here.

Edit App

In the Discount section of your Marketing app, you can create different types of discounts. We’ll go over some of the various discount and campaign options you may want to offer your clients. If you want to learn about the Discount options in general, read more here. Not all apps may be appropriate for the discount (for example, you likely don't want to offer complimentary products for everyone who leaves items in their shopping cart), so in general we recommend using the General Coupon app.

BOGO Discount

Offering “Buy One, Get One” discounts is a popular strategy to gain purchases. Whether it's “Buy One, Get One Free” or “Buy One, Get One 50% Off,” etc., these coupons can provide amazing discounts for your clients.

1. From Discount Type, Choose % Off. Change the Discount % to half the amount you wish to provide the BOGO discount for. This discount will apply to a specific item, so when two of those items are added to the cart, the total discount will equal the full amount you wish to provide. For instance, if you're offering a “Buy One, Get One Free” deal, set the discount at 50%. This ensures that after adding two items to the cart, the client will receive one for free.

Then select the Limit to specific products checkbox to apply the discount only to the products you wish to discount.

2. Select the products you wish to discount, and then click Apply.

3. Give your coupon a Description, and custom Coupon code, then Apply.

Pro Tip: You may also want to set the Minimum Order ($) to be slightly above the price of the first item, to ensure the client only receives the discount when they add 2 products.

Print Credit

Providing a discount for a print credit is a great approach for photographers, encouraging clients to invest in prints while enhancing their overall shopping experience. This discount can be perceived as a personalized gift card or certificate directly from the photographer to the client.

1. In the Marketing app’s editor, ensure the Discount Type is set to $ Off and the discount amount.

2. You can create a custom Description and Coupon code, then select Apply.

Please Note: If you wish to offer Gift cards for clients to purchase for others, you can use the Gift Card Marketing app.

Free Shipping Over $X Amount Setup

Offering a discount for free shipping on orders over a certain amount is an excellent option for photographers as it incentivizes clients to purchase more prints or products by eliminating additional shipping costs.

1. In the Marketing app’s editor, ensure the Discount Type is set to Free Shipping. Then, decide the Minimum order ($) that the client needs to spend before they can apply the free shipping discount.

Please Note: There are multiple ways to create a free shipping discount. The Discount Type can also be set to % Off or $ Off with the Free Shipping checkbox selected and Discount % or $ set to 0. Regardless of the method you choose, make sure Free Shipping is selected and a Minimum Order ($) is specified.

2. You can create a custom Description and Coupon code, then select Apply.

Complimentary Products

Providing a complimentary product with purchases could be a great discount for clients, fostering a positive shopping experience. Complimentary product discounts can also serve as a positive resolution for problem situations, emphasizing your care and dedication to your client’s needs.

1. In the Marketing app’s editor, set the Discount Type to Free Product, set a Minimum order ($) amount that a client must spend to receive the complimentary product, and then select the specific products.

Please Note: If you do not want to have a minimum amount for your client to receive the free item, leave the Minimum Order ($) as 0. For example, if you provide complimentary wedding or family photo albums.

2. It’s extremely important to indicate the specific product that the client will receive as a complimentary gift. Checkmark to choose the item(s) you wish to offer and click Apply.

3. You can create a custom Description and Coupon code, then select Apply.

Friends and Family Discount

There may be times when you would like to offer a discount that can only be used by friends and family, removing your profit margin from the shop. This discount can be easily created via a Marketing app in Sales & Automation from your Main Dashboard.

1. In the Marketing app's editor, make sure that you have set the Discount Type to Cost Price. With the Cost Price discount, you will forfeit the ability to profit from the sale by removing the markup on the products.

Alternatively, you may want to remove emails and banners to keep the discount hidden.

Pro Tip: You can instead customize a special Price List through Store Pricing settings specifically tailored for friends and family. This personalized price list can feature discounted prices, which can be easily assigned to the gallery upon creation. This ensures that guests in the gallery automatically receive the discounted rate without the need to apply a discount code.

Product Sale

Photographers may want to create product discounts to incentivize purchases. This discount can be easily created via a marketing app in Sales & Automation from your Main Dashboard.

1. In the Marketing app's editor, decide the discount type you wish to provide on the specific product. For example, you may want to do a promotion surrounding all your wall mounted products.

2. Make sure the Limit to specific products box is checked and choose the product you'd like to have the sale for. Select Apply.

3. In your campaign’s editor, add a Product Row banner. This banner is commonly used for product discounts and could be a helpful tool to highlight this sale in your Gallery.

4. Customize the banner, choose the product, and select Apply.
