FAQ
How long does the self-migration process take?
The time depends on how many galleries and photos you’re moving and the current server activity. Most migrations are completed within a few hours to a couple of days, and usually take less than a week. We’re continually improving our capacity to make transfers faster.
Can I self-migrate video content as well?
Not at the moment. The Self Migration Tool doesn’t support video, and the same limitation applies to the migration service handled by our team. We will keep you updated if this changes in the future
Can I use the Self Migration Tool on Windows and Mac?
Yes! The Chrome extension can be used on both Windows and Mac computers.
Do I need to use Chrome for self-migration?
You can use Chrome or any Chromium-based browser like Edge, Brave, or Opera. Safari is not supported at the moment, so if that is your default browser, we recommend installing Chrome to complete the migration. You can remove it afterward if you like.

Can I filter and sort the galleries so I can choose the ones I want to migrate?
Yes! Before selecting galleries (step 11), you can use filters and sort options:
Available Filters:
Tag (category/occasion)
Status (Active, Inactive, etc.)
Available Sort options:
Name (A-Z, Z-A)
Created (New-Old, Old-New)
Event Date (New-Old, Old-New)
Why are my migrated galleries offline?
By default, migrated galleries are set to offline to ensure their privacy. After the process is complete, you can turn them online and grant client access using the Gallery Migration App.
Are client emails moved with galleries during self-migration?
Yes. In Pic-Time, there are five different user types. How client emails are migrated in Pic-Time depends on your previous service:
ShootProof: Main clients are transferred as Main Clients in Pic-Time.
Pixieset: All users are transferred as Photographer Invited users in Pic-Time.
Is the gallery structure preserved (scenes) during self-migration?
Yes. Your existing scenes/categories will be preserved. However, cover images cannot be designated for each Scene in Pic-Time.
Please Note: When creating Gallery Templates for self-migration, DO NOT add Scene names if your galleries already have Scenes, as they will transfer automatically.
Is the cover photo migrated during self-migration?
Yes! The gallery’s cover image will be migrated.
For Pixieset users: Cover images are only downloadable in low resolution, so you may need to reupload or select a new cover in Pic-Time.
Can my gallery categories be preserved during self-migration?
Yes.
On Pixieset, gallery “categories” correspond to Pic-Time’s Occasion. You can preserve your categories by creating Pic-Time Gallery Templates with Occasions and linking your Pixieset galleries to the appropriate templates.
Will my galleries keep the same order after self-migration?
Yes, galleries will maintain the same order if they have an event date from your previous platform.
Are client favorites moved with the galleries during self-migration?
No. Favorites can only be migrated from PASS+ via our paid Migration Service.
Will my galleries keep the same order after self-migration?

Will my gallery URL stay the same after self-migration?
The URL will be based on the gallery name, not a random string. However, we cannot guarantee it will be exactly the same as before.
Will this slow down my computer?
No, you just need to start the process. The tool will connect the two accounts to our computers and use its power to do the migration process.
Will this use my internet connection?
Only during setup — selecting galleries and templates. The download/upload process uses our computers, so slower connections won’t be a problem.
Why can’t I self-migrate from all gallery services?
Pic-Time’s Self-Migration Tool currently supports the largest and most popular platforms. Expanding to other services takes time, as each platform requires custom tools and thorough testing to ensure data transfers correctly. In the meantime, our paid Migration Service supports a wider range of platforms.
What if I don't have time to do it myself?
Our Self-Migration Tool is very quick! However, if you would prefer us to do it for you we still offer our paid migration service here.
How do I invite clients to their migrated galleries?
We recommend using our Gallery Migration App to email your clients their new gallery link. You can even include a store discount to give them a warm welcome and encourage product sales!
My clients currently have an access code to the gallery. Will it stay the same during self-migration?
No. In most cases, clients will be prompted to create a new password the first time they access the gallery in Pic-Time.
