Pricing your products by quantity is a simple way to encourage clients to order more, as it allows you to offer additional items at a lower price. Volume and Tiered pricing is available for Photo Downloads, Prints, and Frames. Clients can also order different designs of the same product (not just duplicates) and take advantage of the pricing.
Please Note: If you had tiered pricing set up before July 10, 2025, it will remain active as long as you don’t disable it. If you attempt to edit the old tiered pricing, you’ll see a message to update to the new tiered pricing. If you wish to keep the old tiered pricing, click Keep Current Pricing.
Volume vs Tiered Pricing
Volume Pricing
Volume Pricing is our recommended option, ideal for encouraging larger orders with one straightforward price that's easy for clients to understand. As clients purchase more, the price per item drops once they reach a new tier, incentivizing them to add more to their cart.
Tiered Pricing
Tiered Pricing is best for those who want more precise control over profit margins at each quantity level. The final price is calculated based on the pricing of all tiers leading up to the total quantity, making it more nuanced but potentially less intuitive for clients.
Setting up your pricing
1. To begin, click on Settings from your Main Dashboard.
2. Go to Store Pricing, select your particular Price List, and click on a product to edit it.
3. Select the product type. Next to product size, check the Volume Pricing option and click to Edit Volume Pricing.
4. This will open the quantity pricing page, where you can create multiple pricing tiers based on the quantity your client orders for that product size.
Item unit cost: The production cost of a single product from the lab.
Unit Price: The price your clients will see and pay for each product.
Unit Profit: The profit you earn for each product sold at the given Unit Price.
Qty From and Qty To: The number of products clients can purchase at that particular Unit Price.
In Volume Pricing, only the current tier that the client’s order quantity falls into is used to calculate the final price.
In Tiered Pricing, all previous tiers are also considered when calculating the total price.
Pricing Examples
Standard Pricing (no tiers set up): If a client purchases 49 prints at a Price of $2 each, they will pay a total of $98 (49 prints × $2).
Volume Pricing: If a client purchases 49 prints and the Unit Price for quantities between 20 and 49 prints is $1.75, the client will pay a total of $88.75 (49 prints × $1.75).
Tiered Pricing: If a client purchases 49 prints, where the first 19 prints are priced at $2 each and the prints from 20 to 49 are priced at $1.75 each, the client will pay a total of $90.50 ((19 prints × $2) + (30 prints × $1.75)).
5. Click the link to switch between Tiered Pricing and Volume Pricing.
6. Click the Remove button to remove any tiers. To add a tier, click Add Tier.
7. Set your Qty From amount. This will automatically adjust the Qty To from the previous tier.
8. Next, set your Unit Price. We strongly recommend making this Unit Price lower than the price in the previous tier so clients feel they’re getting a discount, encouraging them to order more.
If you see the message: “Warning: One or more Unit Prices are lower than the item cost.”, it means the client will pay less than it costs to produce the item. You’ll lose money because the Unit Price is below the Item Unit Cost.
Analyzing Your Profit
On the right-side panel, drag the slider to preview your potential earnings based on how many products the client may purchase.
Quantity: The number of units/products the client might buy.
Price: The total amount the client will pay.
Profit: Your profit margin, calculated as the Price minus the total product Cost. The profit doesn't account for any Pic-Time commissions based on your Store Settings.
How is Volume and Tiered Pricing displayed?

Using Advanced Options
Handling Fee
If you want to add a minimum base price, checkmark to Add Handling Fee. This fee will be added to the first unit or product purchased.
Set Full-Gallery Price (Photo Download only)
If you want to sell the full gallery at a fixed price, check the box for Set full-gallery price. This option is available only for the Photo Download product and acts as a price cap. Clients won’t be able to spend more than this set amount, regardless of how many downloads they add to their cart.
Please Note: If you want to give your client a set number of free downloads you can set this up by adjusting the download permissions or offering a coupon. We do not recommend setting up free downloads through Volume or Tiered Pricing because clients will be able to place multiple orders for the free download tier.
Volume Pricing Example: If a client purchases 333 downloads at $1.75 each, they’ll pay a total of $499.50 (333 × $1.75). For 334 or more downloads, the total price is capped at $500.
Tiered Pricing Example: If a client purchases 321 downloads, they’ll pay a total of $498.50 ((19 downloads × $2) + (30 downloads × $1.75) + (272 downloads × $1.50)). For 322 or more downloads, the total price is capped at $500.
Please note: Multiple orders of the same product do not cumulatively count toward the total unit amounts.
For example, if you set the full gallery price at $500 (with a Unit Cost of $1.50 under Volume Pricing) and your client places one order of 333 downloads priced at $499.50, then places a second order of another 333 downloads, they will still be charged an additional $499.50 for the new order.
Price per download and full-gallery price
To set a straightforward price-per-photo alongside a full-gallery price option, we recommend creating one tier for the individual download price and enabling the Set Full-Gallery Price option.
For example, if a client purchases 19 downloads, they’ll pay $475 total ($25 per download). If they purchase 20 or more downloads, they’ll pay a capped price of $500.
Download Packages
If you want to display download packages as separate products and lock the client into a certain number of downloads, use the Product Packages or Custom Product options in the store instead. Learn more.
If you prefer to offer different download tiers within a single product and allow clients the flexibility to buy more or fewer downloads than the package amounts, use Tiered Pricing.
For example, you can set up pricing like this:
10 downloads for $100
20 downloads for $180
40 downloads for $300
Full gallery for $400
