Photographers have the option to offer clients Product Packages, consolidating various items into a single price, in addition to a la carte products, or as the only option in the store. This article will guide you through our recommended package setups and explore various reasons and methods for implementing packages, tailored to fit your specific photography business model and clientele.

Product Packages Templates

If you’re busy or don’t know where to begin, we highly recommend our Product Package Templates. These templates cater to various niches such as weddings, family, engagement, newborn, and portrait galleries. Our frames template is particularly suitable for any type of photo session, ranging from school portraits to corporate and commercial projects, and even fine art photography.

After creating the initial package, our templates, fully customizable, allow you to edit everything from the name of the package to the products offered. For example: your Engagement Packages could easily become a New Year's bundle, with Holiday cards offered instead of Save the Date cards. A Family Package could work great for your portraits or commercial events.

Album Bundles (Parent Albums)

Album bundles are a common product that photographers offer to their clients in their packages. Generally, album bundles would be useful for cases such as a wedding couple who wish to have a large album for themselves and smaller albums for their parents or grandparents.

Adding album bundles to your packages could be a great way to diversify your offerings. Through priced packages, you can set up different album cover finishes for clients to choose from, as well as different sizing options.

As another option, you can also offer additional pages at an additional cost, so this is a good opportunity for upselling the album bundle.

Packages Only Shop

Some photographers may opt to exclusively sell their packages as standalone products in their shops. In this case, you would simply need to uncheck the products in your Store Pricing that you don't want to offer individually. All products will remain accessible for you to include within the package itself.

Packages Only Shop with optional additional (a la carte) items

If you want to exclusively sell packages as standalone products while still providing optional additional items within the package, you can achieve this by selecting the checkmark to designate the item as optional.

Once that’s completed, you will price the item separately from the package.

Digitals Packages

Photographers who sell lots of downloads as their business model should consider digital download packages. The packages can be customized to provide clients with varying resolutions, social media download options, or slideshow download options.

When creating the digital package item, select Photo Downloads as the product.

Once in the editor, you have the option to select whether you’d like the download to be of the full gallery or a set number of downloads included.

Optional Additional Digital Downloads

You can also sell optional additional digital downloads. After you checkmark to offer the item as optional, you can checkmark to Upsell additional prints. Then you can price the additional item.

For example (in this screenshot below), the client's first x High-Res photos are $25 each, and then each additional is only $10 each. You could also make the first x High-Res photos part of the included package Price, and then also sell additional downloads at $10 (or whatever price) each.

Holidays or Other Events

For the holidays, you may want to offer special holiday packages. Packages are a great customizable option to provide in your store to pique client interest. For example, if you are creating a New Year’s package, you can tailor it to the holiday’s theme.

In this example, the New Year’s package could include 24 New Year’s Cards, with an option to purchase additional sets of 24 cards at a photographer-set price. Additionally, there’s an included 8x12 calendar. Clients also have the option to purchase ornaments in any shape at an additional cost.

Similarly, you can create packages for other holidays, such as Valentine's Day packages, Mother’s/Father’s Day packages, Birthday packages, Anniversary packages, etc. A helpful tip for photographers creating specialized packages for holidays is to create customized Price Lists that can be assigned to the galleries while running a sale for the specific holiday.

Marketing Apps

Digital Gift Card

Packages can also be created that act as gifts for people to purchase for someone else. In these packages, Digital Gift cards can be included as a product. To learn how to set up the Digital Gift card automation app, check out our article here.

Please Note: The recipient of a Digital Gift card would receive an email notifying them of this discount, so you may want to delete that email in the Sales app if the customer buying the gift wants to keep it a surprise.

Mini Session

It is also possible for photographers to include a Mini Session in their packages. For example, you could provide the client with a calendar and a frame that they can purchase every year for their Yearly Family Photos.
