Discount stacking allows clients to put two or more coupons on a single order. When using a Marketing Automation app with a discount, you can enable or disable discount stacking.
Discount Stacking
Discount stacking is useful when you want to offer more than one discount at a time. For example, if you have a $ OFF discount for a specific product and you'd also like to offer a storewide % OFF discount, you can enable discount stacking so both discounts can be used on a single order.
If more than one % OFF discount is applied, both discounts are applied on top of each other. For example, if a 10% OFF discount is applied on top of a 25% OFF discount, the total % OFF will be 35%.
If a $ OFF discount is applied in addition to a % OFF discount, the % OFF discount will be taken off the cart total before $ OFF discount is applied (unless one of the discounts is product specific. Then the discount would be taken off only the allowed product).
Disabling discount stacking can be useful when using automations where you don't know exactly when the discount will be sent to the user. For example, if you have the Abandoned Cart app assigned to a gallery, it automatically sends users discounts when they leave items in their cart. The user could receive the Abandoned Cart discount during another promotion you have active and you might not want both discounts to be used on a single order. In this case, you can disable discount stacking.
Please Note: If discount stacking is disabled and a user has been assigned more than one discount code, only one coupon code will be applied. By default, if both discount codes are added to the cart, the code that gives a higher discount will be used.
Please Note: The Rolling Publish app is the only instance where 2 non-stackable coupons could be used together since the app discounts the entire price list automatically without a discount code.
Enabling or Disabling Discount Stacking
1. Add or select the Campaign or Automation app you are working with. Click the pencil icon and edit the Discount section to disable or enable discount stacking.
2. Check the box to enable discount stacking. When discount stacking is enabled, the client will be able to use more than one discount on an order (as long as both discount codes allow discount stacking).
Uncheck the box to disable discount stacking. When discount stacking is disabled, the client will not be able to use more than one discount code on a single order.
Please Note: If the client tries to apply more than one discount code, a message will appear in the cart that says, No multiple discounts allowed, the highest discount was given. The highest discount will be used on the order. The second discount will not be used on the order, but will still be valid to use as a single discount if the client places a second order before the discount expires.
