How do I set up the General Coupon Automation?

Written by Lauren

Send one or more of your gallery guests a promotional offer using the General Coupon automation! Use this for percentage off, free products, free shipping, set monetary amount (print credit), or product-at-cost-price coupons.

After this automation is assigned to a gallery, you will be asked to select which clients you would like to send the promotion to and when you would like it to start. This article will guide you through customizing the automation and assigning it to your gallery.

This automation is great for general store sales and discounts you give to all your clients (complimentary products included in their session, percentage off when gallery launches, etc.) If you're looking for a coupon you can customize every time you send to a client (better for customer support experiences and a one-off discount), check out the Single-Use Coupon.

Add General Coupon Automation

1. Click here to go to your Shop & Automations > Campaigns tab, and then click + More Campaigns and select the General Coupon.

2. Click Set Up Automation.

3. Name your automation and click Add Automation.

Discount

4. Then you can begin customizing your coupon by adjusting the discount. If you don't want to send a discount, click the trashcan icon. To adjust the discount, click the pencil icon.

5. Here you can modify the discount type, description, and code, choose to apply free shipping, set a minimum order amount, allow discount stacking, and/or limit the coupon to specific products. For more information on what discounts you can offer, click here. Click Apply when you are ready to save your changes.

Campaign Duration

6. Modify the duration of your coupon by clicking on the pencil icon. This will be the time period during which the coupon can be used by your client, and will correspond with your reminder emails.

7. You can select the number of months and/or days you would like to run the campaign for. You can also adjust for the campaign to end at 11:59 pm. Click Apply when you are ready to save your changes.

Emails

8. You can also send emails as part of your campaign. First, select your Email send settings.

9. Here you can adjust the timing of when the emails are sent. They can be sent either at the Earliest possible time (based on when the campaign starts), or at an Optimized schedule.

For example, you may want any Holiday discount emails to send at the optimized schedule, but you may want a complimentary product discount to send right away so your client is immediately notified. This will also depend on when you choose to start your automation when you assign it to a gallery.

10. Then click the plus icon to add an email, then click the pencil icon to customize and edit the emails. Your Announcement email will go out at the start of the campaign which is set when assigning the automation. You can also add email reminders before the campaign ends. 11. If you don’t want to send out a certain email, you can click the trashcan icon to delete it.

Banners

12. You can now begin customizing your banners. Banners will display in the gallery and shop for any users who are eligible for the discount. For example, if you assign a discount to your Main Client, only they will be able to see the banners, receive the emails, and use the discount when they are logged into their account. There are 5 types of banners: Text Banner, Large Banner, Photo Banner, Product Row, and Store Rotator.

Each banner has various editable parameters. Learn more about the banner options and customizations here!

13. After you have modified your automation, you can leave an internal note to yourself and click Save to save all your changes.

Assigning the Automation to Galleries

14. After you have created your automation, you can assign it to your galleries! Learn more about assigning automations to galleries here. In addition, you can assign the automation to a specific person so that only they receive the discount.
