Sometimes you may wish to upgrade or extend your plan while in the middle of your current subscription. The exact steps involved in upgrading or adding extra years to your subscription depend on the kind of subscription you currently have and the subscription you wish to upgrade to. This article will guide you through how this process works in different cases.
Upgrading Your Subscription
The table goes over a quick overview of what happens when you upgrade your subscription. You can also read the rest of the article below for additional information.

*Days that are credited means that the same number of days are added to the end of your new subscription.
**Days that are prorated means that whatever remaining time you had on your current subscription is converted to the new subscription, and your subscription expiration is adjusted to account for the price difference. This allows you to either upgrade at any time, or purchase additional years of a subscription.
Please Note: Accounts are billed several days before they are due to renew. Which means the account renewal and billing dates are not the same. To check your next billing date go to Plans & Billing in your Settings.
Upgrading from a Free Trial
If you upgrade during a free trial, you will be charged immediately for the new subscription, and the upgrade with its features will activate immediately, replacing the trial. Any remaining days you have left on your trial will be credited to the end of your subscription.
Please Note: Your free trial has access to Advanced Plan features, so when you purchase a Professional or Beginner plan, you will lose some of the features.
Upgrading to a Higher Tier Monthly Plan
(e.g., Monthly Professional to Monthly Advanced)
Your account will be upgraded immediately. The remaining days you have left on your current subscription will be prorated to your new subscription and your remaining subscription period will adjust accordingly. Upon subscription renewal, you will then be charged the standard monthly rate for this subscription.
Upgrading to a Higher Tier Yearly Plan
(e.g., Yearly Professional to Yearly Advanced)
Your account will be upgraded immediately. The remaining days left on your current subscription will be prorated to your new subscription and your remaining subscription period will adjust accordingly. Upon subscription renewal, you will be charged the standard annual rate for this subscription.
Upgrading From a Monthly to a Yearly Plan (Same Tier)
(e.g., Monthly Professional to Yearly Professional)
Your account will be charged and upgraded immediately. The remaining days you have left on your current subscription will be credited to the end of your new subscription period.
Upgrading From a Monthly to a Yearly Plan (Higher Tier)
(e.g., Monthly Professional to Yearly Advanced)
Your account will be upgraded immediately. You will not be charged right away. Instead, the remaining days left on your current subscription will be prorated to your new subscription period. Upon subscription renewal, you will be charged the standard annual rate for this subscription.
Upgrading During a Pic-Time Subscription Promotion
For our annual campaigns, such as the Black Friday promotion, the discounted subscription rate applies only for your first year. After this period, the subscription will renew at the price current to the time of renewal. However, during the campaign, you can pre-pay for multiple years of your subscription at the rate available during the campaign to make the most of the offer. To do this, go to the Plans & Billing page, click Manage next to your subscription, and purchase any additional years one at a time. Learn more here.
Please Note: If the date of your subscription renewal falls outside of the promotion period and you wish to utilize the discount on a higher-tier plan for a full year after your current subscription period ends, you will need to first upgrade your account. Then you can Manage your subscription to pay for an additional year at a discounted rate before the promotional offer expires.
Downgrading Your Subscription
If you choose to downgrade your subscription, you will continue the rest of the time you have left on your current plan. Once the subscription is due to renew, you will be moved to the lower-tier plan and charged accordingly. You can learn more here.
